The Narwal Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is among the most effective combos that I've tested. Its base station features an enormous dustbin and water tank and its dual rubber brushes are less susceptible to hair tangles than single bristles.
Its mopping performance is excellent and its AI mapping excels in eliminating obstacles. It can also pause the cleaning process, and then resume from where it was when it stopped.
1. Roomba Combo j9+
The Roomba Combo J9+ is a 2-in-1 robot mop and vacuum cleaner that is among the most sophisticated on the market. It comes with an elegant self-emptying Clean Base that can accommodate up to two full mopping cycles and is even designed to resemble a tiny table. It's also the only robot mop we've tested with a water reservoir on board that automatically cleans and refills the cleaning pads after each vacuum and mopping cycle.
The mopping arm is placed in a discreet manner at the top of the unit. It lowers when it spots hard surfaces, and begins to scrub. It moves slowly over surfaces to avoid spreading wet or muddy spills over carpeted areas. It does a great job in staying out of the path of furniture, cords, and other obstacles.
It's smarter than most robot vacs, too thanks to the iRobot Home app, which allows you to modify your cleaning settings and prioritize rooms based on dirtiness, set cleaning schedules and times and much more. The app comes with precise maps of your home with seasonal suggestions, custom cleaning routines, as well as a variety of smart home integrations that are easy to use.

In terms of navigation in terms of navigation, the M12 utilizes LiDAR, IR, and 3D structured light to avoid obstacles. The sensors do a great job of detecting larger items, such as HVAC vents and furniture. They may struggle to find smaller objects, such as cables or small rags. This can cause robots to miss areas.

The M12's built in inclinometer allows it to recognize and navigate stairs. It also has the ability to automatically return to its OMNI station to wash and dry its mop brushes, and then refill its water tanks. When the batteries are exhausted, the OMNI Station is able to clean itself and empty the dustbin when its batteries are low.

Its mop cleans itself between uses, which reduces maintenance costs and helps keep the pads clean. In addition the dock sensor that can detect when the mop pad is dirty and prompts the washing cycle to keep it clean.
The S8 MaxV Ultra, like its predecessors, features an intelligent system which can recognize things that are commonplace, like shoes and pet waste using the combination of a camera and LIDAR. It performed well in our test of obstacle avoidance, with only one hiccup during my tests (it was stuck while unwinding a wool ball that was caught in its brush arm).
The S8 MaxV Ultra comes with a suction capacity of 10,000pa, which is nearly twice the power of its predecessor. This makes it a good choice for homes that have lots of carpet and a variety of flooring kinds. The vacuum can be programmed to automatically increase suction when it moves over crumbs or dust.

This helps the X40 Ultra receive one of the highest scores in our evaluations for obstacles to avoid.
5. Eufy S1 Pro
The Eufy S1 Pro is an impressively powerful mop and vacuum combination that was designed to be easy for users. The base station, which is gunmetal-colored, is self-emptying and fills its own tank with clean water, automatically empties the dust bin into a smaller one, and washes and dries its own mop pad between cleaning sessions. It also has an advanced feature set that allows it to switch between hard and rugs and effectively remove pet hair and dirt from carpets and high thresholds in rooms.
The S1 Pro's navigation and mapping capabilities are outstanding, and the internal dToF LiDAR device that allows it to keep the appearance of a slim profile while delivering top-notch object avoidance. It can be driven close to walls without crashing, and avoids steps, and can also raise its mop when driving over rugs and carpets with a short pile. It had a difficult time when it encountered longer-pile carpets and also some thick, long mess of dried-on debris.
Like many robots that are available, the S1 Pro comes ready to come out of the box and only requires an initial mapping session to figure out how it can navigate your home. After that the map is displayed in the app and rooms can be added or combined depending on the need. You can also set virtual boundaries as well as no-go or no-mop zones if there's something you do not want the robot to be able to touch.
